Ceiling Drywall Repair

Cracks, holes or damaged ceilings? Patch Pros provides professional ceiling repair and expert texture matching to blend repairs into your existing finish as closely as possible.
Ceiling damage can be especially noticeable because lighting across a ceiling can highlight imperfections, texture differences, and previous repairs. Patch Pros provides professional ceiling repair and texture matching for cracks, holes, plumbing and electrical cutouts, water-damaged areas, loose drywall, failed seams, and previous repairs that need to be corrected. With more than 20 years of professional drywall finishing experience, we look beyond simply covering the damaged area. Before repairing a ceiling, we evaluate the condition of the drywall, the surrounding texture, the location and size of the repair, and whether there may be an underlying issue that needs to be addressed first. Our ceiling repair services include: • Ceiling holes and damaged drywall • Ceiling cracks and failed seams • Plumbing and electrical cutouts • Loose or sagging drywall • Nail and screw pops • Water-damaged ceiling drywall • Previous ceiling repairs that need correction • Texture matching and blending • Skim coating and full-ceiling retexturing when necessary Not every ceiling crack is simply a cosmetic problem. If a ceiling moves when inspected, the drywall may have become loose from the framing above it. When possible, the drywall may need to be properly resecured before the crack itself is repaired. If there isn’t adequate framing or backing where it’s needed, a larger section may have to be opened so the replacement drywall can be securely attached. When repairing a typical failed drywall crack, we don’t simply spread joint compound over the visible line. Depending on the condition of the existing repair, the old tape may need to be removed, the crack opened and prepared, filled with quick-setting compound, retaped, coated, finished, and then textured to match the surrounding ceiling. Texture matching is one of the most important parts of a ceiling repair. We work with common ceiling finishes including orange peel, splatter, knockdown, stomp, swirl, smooth finishes, and popcorn texture. Matching an existing texture requires adjusting the consistency of the material, application pattern, spray or hand technique, and finishing method to reproduce another finisher’s work as closely as possible. There are situations where an individual texture match isn’t the best option. A large repair—such as replacing a significant section of ceiling drywall—or numerous repairs spread across the same ceiling can make the transition between old and new texture more noticeable. In those situations, we may recommend repairing the damaged areas first and then skim coating and retexturing the entire ceiling or ceiling section. When both options are reasonable, we’ll explain them to you. We can attempt to locally match the existing texture first when appropriate, or discuss refinishing the larger surface when you’re looking for the most uniform appearance possible. We also pay attention to something homeowners sometimes notice only after a repair is painted: flashing. Different surface materials, porosity, texture, primer, and lighting can make a repaired area appear slightly different when light hits it from certain angles. Proper finishing and priming can help minimize this effect and produce a more consistent finished surface. Patch Pros provides professional ceiling repair and texture matching throughout Denver and the surrounding metro area. Need an estimate for your ceiling repair? Send us a close-up photo of the damage, a wider photo showing the entire ceiling, and approximate measurements. The wide photo is particularly helpful because the size of the surrounding ceiling can determine whether an individual texture match or a larger refinishing approach makes more sense. Many ceiling repairs can be initially estimated from photos, and free on-site estimates are available for larger or more complicated projects.
